Ajuri Ngelale Biography: Ajuri Ngelale is a Nigerian broadcast journalist and politician. He currently serves as Presidential Press Secretary to President Tinubu. Mr. Ngelale has had a distinguished career in journalism and politics and previously served as the Special Presidential Adviser on Public Relations to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He was also the Co-Chief Press Secretary to Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Electoral Council for the 2023 Nigerian Presidential elections which Nigeria won.
In addition to his work as a journalist and in government, Ngelale is the author of two books and is known for his work in investigative journalism, especially his report “Eagle Eye”.

Ajuri Ngelale was born on November 13, 1986, in Platteville, Wisconsin, USA to a Nigerian father and a German-American mother.
Ngelale attended the University of Kansas where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History.
After completing his studies, Gelare returned to Nigeria in 2011 and joined the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), a programme aimed at engaging Nigerian graduates in nation-building and national development.

Ajuri Ngerale’s Career
Ajuli Ngerale began his career as a youth corpsman at African Independent Television (AIT) where he completed one year of military service.
He showed early talent and was recruited by AIT as an investigative reporter. Over the years, he rose through the ranks to become a news editor, producer and anchor from 2011 to 2016. During his time at AIT, he produced two highly acclaimed public affairs documentary series, State of the Nation in 2012 and Diary from the Delta in 2016.
In 2016, Ngerale took an important step in his career when he moved to Channels Television. There he served as co-host of the popular public policy discussion show “Sunrise Daily.” His partnership with the US government’s Mandela Washington Fellowship led to the production and presentation of the series “Future Leaders of Africa,” which documented the efforts of young African leaders to advance the underprivileged.
Ngerale’s transition from journalism to politics was marked by his role as Senior Media Content Producer for the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Next Level presidential campaign. His work contributed to President Muhammadu Buhari’s reelection in 2019.
Following his victory, President Buhari appointed him as his most senior special adviser on public relations, a position he held until 2023.
With the change of government in 2023, Ngerale continued his political journey by serving as Presidential Press Secretary to President Tinubu. His role as Co-Chief Press Secretary of Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Electoral Council for the 2023 Nigerian Presidential elections was crucial in Nigeria’s victory.

According to a statement signed by him, he submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, informing him that he is currently on indefinite leave to focus on medical issues affecting his immediate family, AIT reports.
