As a MARC0S commando, he participated in the high-risk operation to flush out the terrorists who had taken hostages at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. During the mission,Praveen sustained severe injuries, ye the continued to fight, displaying exceptional valor and determination.

After the attack, Praveen’s military career took an unexpected turn due to the extent of his injuries. Praveen was discharged from combat duty, but he didn’t want this to be the end of his career. He focused on becoming an Ironman triathlete, which not only requires incredible physical strength but also incredible mental strength. In 2018, he made history by completing the South African Ironman Triathlon Championship, becoming India’s first Ironman with a disability. The race required him to swim 3.86 km, cycle 180.2 km and run a full marathon of 42.2 km. Despite injuries to his knee and ankle, Praveen overcame the tough challenge, proving that nothing is impossible if driven by determination and resilience

Praveen continued to push his limits by taking part in other extreme challenges. He ran the 72-km Khardung La Marathon in Ladakh, one of the toughest marathons in the world due to the high altitude terrain. His dedication to overcoming all obstacles earned him recognition and respect across the nation. For his extraordinary bravery during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. He was awarded the Shaurya Chakra, one of the highest military awards in India.
