Jay Khonghun Biography: Jefferson Ferrer Khonghun, popularly known as Jay Khonghun, is a Filipino engineer and politician who currently represents the 1st congressional district of Zambales. Zambales is a province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. Jay began his political career as a member of the Zambales Provincial Committee from 2004 to 2010. He then served as Mayor of Subic from 2010 to 2019. After his term as mayor, he ran for Zambales vice governor in 2019 and won, defeating the incumbent vice governor. In the 2022 elections, he won his House of Representatives seat as the Nacionalista Party candidate, defeating Mitos Magsaysay.
Outside of politics, Jay is a qualified civil engineer with a degree from Mapua University in Manila. Before joining the public service full-time, he was involved in the management of the construction company NDK Builders.

Jay’s political career took a major turning point in 2019 when he defeated incumbent Angel Magsaysay-Chen to assume the position of Vice Governor of Zambales. As Vice Governor, he worked closely with Governor Hermogenes Ebdaan to promote sustainable development policies and economic development in the province.

In 2022, Jay entered national politics by securing a seat in the House of Representatives, representing the 1st congressional district of Zambales. As the candidate of the Nacionalista Party, he defeated former Rep. Mitos Magsaysay.
